THINK ABOUT IT

When I first started getting interested in politics at the age of twenty-one there were very few restraints on business or individuals. In fact I never had to have a driver's license when I first started driving. You didn't have to have a license to go into business. Concurrently no one depended on government for their livelihood until after Roosevelt instigated the social security act in the 1930's along with the WPA. I must say there were a lot of people who treated the WPA like a real job and really worked at it. But, I am a witness to the fact that probably fifty percent treated it like a handout, which it was in a lot of cases. I could see from our front yard and recognize, even as an eight or nine year old that only about half of the workers on a road project were doing ninty nine percent of the work. So my eyes were opened at an early age relative to the inequities of most welfare programs. That is the reason communisn has never worked. If each worker gets the same paycheck regardless of his production, how much energy is the average individual going to put forth. That in itself, is the basis for individual production goals, incentives and standards.
During the period of time I was growing into maturity, there was very little publc welfare. Welfare was provided by churches, individuals, and neighbors on a case by case basis as needed, often with an offer of an opportunity to perform a job, in return. Government was not involved. Today we are compelled to participate, by means of taxes we pay, in welform programs for not only needy but lazy as well. That is not charity. Charity is voluntary giving, from the heart.
The greatest tragedy of government welfare programs is that the recipints get caught up in a dependence on Government  for their very livelihood. It is not only a tragedy but also a strategy to keep the populus under control. Today a great percentage of our population depends a great deal upon the federal government for their monthly income. Think about it. If you depend on the federal government for your very livelihood, aren't you going to be beholden to the party which offers you more welfare money. So you become an automatic patron of that party. If that party grows in power to the extent they can tell you what thermosthat setting to use (witness the latest legislation offered in California), or tells you how much toilet paper you are allotted or what kind of light bulbs you must buy (witness recent comments by Nancy Pelosi) or tells you, you must drive a mini-car or wear black shoes or no shoes at all, that is what you will do. And you will have no choice. That is exactly the way we become pawns of the federal government. That is exactly how we lose our freedom. That is exactly how you will tow the line and such legislation is being considered today by members of a democratic congress.   Think About It!
